Text Difference Checker

Compare two text blocks or uploaded text files and instantly see added, removed, and unchanged lines without uploading your content.

How to Compare Text or Files

1

Add original content

Paste text into the left box or upload the first text-based file.

2

Add changed content

Paste or upload the version you want to compare against the original.

3

Review differences

Green lines are additions, red lines are removals, and neutral lines are unchanged.

Why Use This Diff Checker?

A text difference checker is useful for comparing article drafts, code snippets, CSV exports, JSON responses, legal copy changes, and AI-generated revisions. Because the comparison runs in your browser, your text and files stay on your device.

Line-by-Line Diff

Great for content edits, code review, metadata changes, and small file comparisons.

File Upload Support

Compare TXT, Markdown, CSV, JSON, code files, HTML, XML, and logs.

Privacy First

Files are read locally in the browser and are never uploaded to our server.

How to Read the Diff Colors

Unchanged Lines

Neutral lines exist in both versions and help you understand the surrounding context.

Added Lines

Green lines appear only in the changed version, so they represent new content.

Removed Lines

Red lines appear only in the original version, so they represent deleted content.

Good Files to Compare

This tool is best for plain text formats such as TXT, Markdown, CSV, JSON, JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, HTML, XML, and log files. For Word documents or PDFs, copy the text from each document and paste it into the two boxes.

When to Use Ignore Case or Whitespace

Use Ignore case when capitalization is not important, such as checking duplicate titles or rough content drafts. Use Ignore extra whitespace when line spacing or repeated spaces changed but the actual wording should be compared.
